TEAM

Our team consist of 6 young entrepreneurs with a common passion for new media. It was during a project during their master New Media & Digital Culture they launched the idea for a fair ad blocking tool to intervene in the trend of blocking all online advertisements. We strongly support the spread of free content online. For this reason we think it is very important to emphasize the need of online advertisement for many online platforms to exist.

Ryan de Ruiter

Founder & CEO

Ryan de Ruiter has always been interested in digital media. On his own he learned about the more technical aspects of computers and he made a short documentary as his high school final project. Since then, he has developed a research interest in analyzing people’s behavior on the internet. He has written about fandom on YouTube and the role of consumers in advertising models on the web. Besides the master New Media & Digital Culture, he is an entrepreneur who helps non-technical people understand how to make use of the web. He strives to make all his clients comfortable with digital media and making them enjoy using computers, in order to let people expand their horizons.

Jennifer Swagers

Founder & CEO

Jennifer Swagers is a master student of New Media & Digital Culture at the University of Amsterdam. Before this master she fallowed the bachelor New Media at the same university. With her focus on social media, privacy, data, and connectivity she has done mutiple researches like online dating, the relationship between museums and digital media, and the privacy rules of Facebook. Besides her study, Jennifer finds her interests in traveling, surfing, reading and art. She is working for a retail company in Amsterdam and is she is looking forward to see what life will bring.

Hans Kok
Hidde van der Beek

Founder & CEO

Hidde van der Beek is a master student at the University of Amsterdam. With his interest in new media he decided in 2012 to study New Media and Digital Culture. Over the last few years he did research about the Like Economy, Digital Humanities, Big Data issues, and the Google search engine. He ended his Bachelor with a thesis about the temporality in the well-known application Snapchat. In his spare time he likes to swim and listen to music.

Lara Molendijk was originally a student of political sciences at the University of Amsterdam. During her master she changed her field of study by starting the specialization track Marketing of Business Administration. Beside her study she has been working for more than eight years for many different companies. Because of her working experience she discovered her passion for organization, marketing, and management.  Lara is always looking for new challenges, progress and adventure. Her life is a continuing search for a new balance between studying, working, travelling, friends, family and many other interests. The more dynamic her life, the more she enjoys it.

Starting a second master, New Media & Digital Culture, is maybe the most challenging commitment so far. As she sees new media as the dominating tool for all communication she strongly strives for emphasis on more awareness of social norms and values online.

Hans Kok is a student of the master New Media & Digital Culture who has been studying new media for the last four years and just finished his Bachelor Media and Culture. During this study he was specialised in new media and wrote his thesis about Facebook and pages of deceased users. Next to his study he had spend the last four years working for a company, which innovates health care by using digital technologies. Furthermore, he spends the rest of his live on his passion for music. From his 13th anniversary he had spend most of his spare time learning to play instruments and played in different bands. Now he’s working on his own solo album. If he’s not playing or listening to music you might find a smile on his face when he’s snowboarding during the winter!

 

Frans Bootsman has been a new media student from the get-go. He started studying Media & Culture at the University of Amsterdam and successively finished a European Studies bachelor at the same university. Work-wise he’s spent a good couple of years working on the Communications and PR-department at Trouw, which closed at the beginning of this year. Currently, he facilitates the Dutch division of Resident Advisor, one of the leading electronic music platforms worldwide.

In relation to acquiring knowledge, his desired wish to end his scholarly career abroad in England, France or Germany for a second master related to the European field of media. Oh, and he’s very passionate about sports, US politics, poetry and nightlife.
